57 Memorizers, Reciters Partake in Bulgaria Quran Competition

IQNA – The 14th Quran memorization and recitation competition of Bulgaria was held with the participation of 57 Quran memorizers and reciters from across the country.

The city of Madan in the southern province of Smolyan, known as the “City of Quran Memorizers”, hosted the contest.

The contenders competed in memorization of the Holy Quran and the art of recitation.

The closing ceremony, attended by Grand Mufti Mustafa Hadzhi, along with religious leaders, official figures, and representatives of the Turkish embassy and consulate, was held in an atmosphere full of spirituality, reflecting the growing presence of the Quran in the lives of the new generation of Muslims in Bulgaria.

Winners of different categories were announced and awarded at the ceremony.

Bulgaria’s Dar-ul-Iftaa awarded cash prizes to the top winners while all contestants also received a commemorative medal and a certificate of participation.

In an address, Sheikh Hadzhi hailed the atmosphere of the competition, saying, “Today we are witnessing the emergence of a promising generation of young Quranic Muslims in Bulgaria who are capable of confronting the challenges of ignorance and deviation.”

He added that the participants represent a generation that is striving to return to the roots of religion and spread the light of the Quran.

Wedat Ahmed, the head of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, stated that the annual increase in the number of participants is the fruit of the efforts of scholars and teachers who have planted the seeds of the love for the Quran in the hearts of young people.

Nejmi Debov, Mufti of the Smolyan Province, also addressed the ceremony, saying that the participants embodied the spirit of excellence in mastering the Word of God.
